Humanitarian Logistics Short Course- 17/18/19 November

08 Sep 2010

Sydney University is hosting a short course on November 17/18 and 19 on Humanitarian Logistics, presented by Jersey Siepel Adjunct Lecturer, ITLS, Sydney University.

Logistics in humanitarian aid projects has long been an overlooked factor in the efficient and effective delivery of help to victims of war, natural disasters and epidemics. Unstable security environments, long and fragile supply lines, time constraints and access restrictions often add to the pressure on logistics managers to deliver aid where it is most needed.

This course offers an introduction into the complex and challenging world of logistics in humanitarian aid projects by case-studies of real emergencies, group exercises and discussion of mission parameters based on experience from the field. It focuses on the main elements of logistics and supply chain management in two theatres of operation: humanitarian aid in zones of conflict and relief assistance in natural disaster areas.

Who Should Attend? Business Executives and commercial Supply Chain Managers interested in humanitarian aid and/or cross-sector collaboration with relief agencies, including Managing Directors, General Managers, Logistics Managers/Directors and Operations Managers/Directors as well as Management Consultants.
