Taiwan secures $7billion orders from provincial Chinese government

The governor of China's Guangdong Province concluded a week-long visit to Taiwan Sunday during which his delegation placed orders for local industrial and farm products worth more than US $7 billion.

Huang Huahua, who arrived in Taiwan at the head of a 1,000-man delegation from his province Aug. 16, said they were met with hospitality from the Taiwanese people and witnessed for themselves the vitality of Taiwan's economy. As a result, "not only was deeper mutual understanding further solidified, but expanded cooperation in various fields was also achieved, “ he added.

Huang said that during the past week, the members of his delegation, mostly representatives of Guangdong enterprises, signed agreements with their Taiwanese counterparts to buy a total of US$7.085 billion-worth of products -- 80 percent of which are manufactured by local small- and medium-sized enterprises. The figure also includes US$10 million worth of investment in Taiwan.
