Tiger grounding to cost $1.5m a week

The grounding of Tiger Airways Australia will cost the airline $1.5 million a week, the airline’s parent company said.

Tiger Airways Holdings Limited, based in Singapore, was grounded for one week on Saturday by order of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) over safety breaches.

"Having mitigated immediate passenger disruption to the best of its ability, the next priority for Tiger Airways Australia is to work with CASA to fully address their concerns," Tiger Airways said in a statement.
