US Procurement organisations must re-think 2010/2011

Many US economic pundits are claiming leading indicative consumer data indicates the US will soon face the prospects of a ‘double-dip’ recession. Lisa Reisman in MetalMiner asks ‘Will someone explain to me how we expect GDP numbers to remain positive when the consumer trend line is clearly in contraction mode?” One immediate take out from this analysis is that US procurement organisations should get ready to significantly rethink their second half 2010 plans as well as their forecast going into 2011. A checklist of items to consider includes working capital management strategies, supply risk management strategies, rethinking contract durations and contract structuring and management.
