Victorian MP calls for inquiry into Victoria Police procurement practices

Victorian member for Indie Sophie Mirabella has called on the Police Minister to initiate an inquiry into Victoria Police procurement practices after a decision to award a contract to supply shirts to a Queensland company.

About 400 people are employed at Bruck Textiles in Wangaratta, in the state's north-east, which had been contracted to supply the police shirt fabric to work wear company Yakka.

The State Government says an interim contract has now been awarded to a Queensland-based company until the introduction of new-look police uniforms.
