The Wellington Committee of CIPS in New Zealand continue to deliver entertaining and educational events. 'Managing the Organisational Interface' was the theme for the first event of the year, held on Wednesday 11 March 2009.
The event took place at the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce and was well supported with over 50 people attending. Edward Rayner, CIPS Professional Development Services Manager provided attendees with an update on CIPS training and the qualifications framework.
Paul Rayner (no relation) of Working Words provided a range of insights into how Procurement is viewed within organisations he has worked for or with. Not all of them positive.
Paul provided are very insightful overview of the communication challenges faced by Procurement functions within organisations. The challenge to win attention and move people to action is one that is shared with other corporate support functions.
CIPS Wellington Regional Vice Chair, Peter Cooper felt the event was very educational, saying "Paul introduced and explained a range of useful tools and methods with which to win the war for attention and action".
