Nominations open for women's T&L mentoring

03 Sep 2009

Nominations are now open for the Women Moving Forward (WMF) mentoring program, which has become the largest mentoring program for women in Transport and Logistics (T&L).

More than 260 women representing over 90 companies have completed a WMF program, which targets the retention and development of women within the T&L industry. It is administered by the Australian Logistics Council (ALC).

WMF is open to all women in T&L, in any role, in any region across Australia, in any T&L company.

It is run as a 10-week self-paced mentoring program. All participants receive a My Mentor kit (which they get to keep) that contains 10 CD’s, 2 DVD’s and a workbook encapsulating the 10 modules.  Women can download modules to MP3 players and use a free support website.

Women complete one module per week. coming together for weekly one-hour teleconferences, emails and networking, to discuss and support progress.

Throughout the program face to face networking there are fact-to-face networking opportunities and contact with local T&L organisations are established. Leading men and women in T&L address the women either directly or through DVD’s and teleconferences with their stories and experiences.

The group mentoring approach enables women from throughout the broader T&L industry to share experiences and grow their skills together instead of directly matching women to individual mentors.

Nominations close on the 30th September.
